April 18 is the International Day of Monuments and Sites. As the island of Madeira is so much more than landscape, we show you 7 activities where the heritage is raised to a whole other level. In addition, all initiatives are for free, so you only have to register in advance.
1. Auditorium Comendador Mário Casagrande, APEL School (Funchal)
The 2nd Art Week of APEL talks about heritage, landscape, and artistic expressions. There will be a conference and theatrical performances as well.

2. Dialogues between Christian iconography and the wine landscape of Câmara de Lobos
Baroque music by members of the Classical Orchestra of Madeira, in addition to a guided visit to the chapel and launch of a patrimonial guide.

3. St. Lawrence’s Palace
Landscapes within walls: evolution of the green spaces inside the Palace of St. Lawrence. In addition, the lecture is followed by a visit to the Palace, interior garden and garden bastions, as a reference to the rurality of Madeira.

4. Marca de Água Gallery
The Madeiran landscape in contemporary painting and a guided visit to the exhibition “Traço à Cor” by plastic artist Guareta Coromoto. It’s like representing winemaking and ethnography.

5. Henrique and Francisco Franco Museum
Workshop of plastic expression with plastic artist Cristiana de Sousa. The participants are also invited to be an artist for a few hours so they can create unique works of art.
