Mercado dos Lavradores in Funchal is always a must-see item on every tourist’s list. Here you can get fresh fish and seafood, colorful tropical fruits, unique native flowers amidst the joyful hustle of vendors and clients. If you only have seen tuna in a can, this place is going to amaze you! Go to the yummy fruit stalls where you can taste the Cherimoya (or custard apple) pitaya (or Suriname cherry), passion fruit, and the one and only cross-pollinated passionfruit-lemon or passionfruit-banana. In case you haven’t noticed, passionfruit is very popular around here.

Opened in 1940, welcomes visitors from Monday to Thursday, from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M.; Friday from 7 A.M. to 8 P.M. and Saturday from 7 A.M. to 2 P.M.
